Chiropractic Care and Your Health

Your spine has two major functions

Much like a cardiologist deals with the heart and how a dentist deals with your teeth, chiropractic physicians specialize in the nervous system.
1) It supports us and keeps us upright and that is reflected through our posture.

2) Your spine protects your spinal cord; a healthy spinal cord is essential to our overall health.

Your nervous system controls every cell in your body! Chiropractic care promotes neural health and supports the body’s natural healing process. The chiropractic adjustment provides a positive effect upon your nervous system, therefore normalizing and improving your body's overall functionality. This boosts your body's recuperative abilities and in turn increases your body's immune response. Under consistent chiropractic care you are promoting a healthier spine and a more efficient nervous system. This naturally brings about a happier, healthier, pain-free you!

Corrective Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care can be broken down into two categories: "Patch" or relief
care and "Corrective" care via structural rehabilitation of the spine.
"Patch" Care
"Patch" care provides relief of pain and decreases symptoms of your condition(s). Receiving regular chiropractic adjustments improves your spinal joint motion and reduces muscle tension, in turn easing your spines overall range of motion. Routine chiropractic care is a safe, cost effective, and is a natural alternative to medications and surgery for pain relief. "Patch" care does not provide long-term correction of posture or promote remodeling of your spinal structure.
"Corrective" Care
“Corrective” care is designed to provide a basis for the correction of your spine through structural rehabilitation. This will shift your vertebral column towards its normal curvature and proper alignment. A comprehensive care plan is custom designed and catered to your posture and condition both visually and via x-ray analysis to determine what types of exercises, tractions, and adjustments will best improve your condition.

Comparative x-rays are taken so that during care we can monitor your treatment and so you can SEE your progress! Structural rehabilitation of your spine takes time and commitment on the both doctor and the patient’s behalf and is focused on changing your spine and posture more towards normal in turn providing you long-term symptom and pain relief. Like traditional care, corrective care is followed up with routine maintenance care to help preserve the changes you have made. More importantly you are preserving the integrity of your spinal structures and preventing spinal joint and disc damage.

Chiropractic care can be implemented with instrument and drop assisted adjusting and/or with a manual "hands on" adjustment and is safe and effective for all ages for a wide variety of conditions including:

Headaches/Migraines, Neck/Back Pain, Sciatica, Buttocks/Leg Pain, Numbness and Tingling, Weakness and/or Muscle Dysfunction, Postural Imbalances, General Muscle and Joint Pain, TMJ/Jaw Pain or Dysfunction, Shoulder Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Knee/Ankle Pain, Carpal Tunnel, Plantar Fasciitis, Torticollis, Whiplash, Disc Issues, Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD), Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD), Post Surgical Syndromes, Energy Issues, Sleep Disturbances, Vertigo, Dizziness, and MUCH MORE!

Chiropractic Care & Scoliosis

Scoliosis can be a very serious condition that can become quite complicated even if it is managed properly. Aside from the complications of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems that can arise in some cases, a patient can experience a great amount of grief and embarrassment due to

the pain and distortion of a patients’ posture.

Traditional medical and chiropractic care typically treats around the structural component of this spinal condition to attempt to reduce the pain and symptoms related to scoliosis. Unfortunately this does not protect the integrity of the spinal structures and a patient continues to break down as the scoliosis worsens with time.

Typical medical treatment involves waiting and surgical intervention. Waiting is not a productive approach due to the fact that the scoliotic deformity will typically worsen with time and the prognosis becomes far worse leading to more invasive and aggressive treatments that typically end with less than desirable results. A non-surgical treatment such as structural rehabilitation of the spine could be your answer in a majority of cases.

Initial Visit

A brief consultation is followed by a thorough and comprehensive exam that is geared towards pinpointing your issues and evaluating your overall health. The most critical component of the initial visit is a detailed postural exam that consists of both a visual and radiographic analysis. This dictates the direction of care we choose to resolve your issues and in turn properly align your spine to shift you towards optimum health.

We will create a care plan based off your postural analysis designed to stress your tissues into the “mirror-image” or opposite position of what your abnormal posture presentation is. These exercises and tractions are prescribed to you by your doctor to provide you with a basis for the structural correction of your spine. This comprehensive program will promote the change the spinal structure as well as the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine.

Corrective Care Phases at Each Visit

 • Mirror-image postural exercises (changes muscles)

 • Mirror-image traction (changes ligaments)

 • Mirror-image adjustments (promoting nervous system)

Traction requires force and time to mold the ligaments and correct the spine towards its normal position. Think about it as “braces” for your spine, just like braces in the dental field, correction of you spinal alignment takes time and increasing levels of force over time to properly change the tissues and structures. We optimally want to get you beyond 10 minutes of traction consistently to begin seeing significant changes in your spinal curve and alignment upon radiographic analysis.

The adjustments will be done using a variation of styles including instrument, drop table, and manual adjusting. Many of the adjustments will be done in the mirror image or opposite position of you improper posture to return it to normal alignment. Corrective care is for both the alleviation of your pain and symptoms, as well as for the correction of spine. Therefore improving your condition from the root of your issues!

Custom Foot Orthotics

Your feet are the base of your body’s posture and are one of the core foundations that you spine depends upon for proper function.

Foot problems can affect your hip, knee, and back! Surgery is NOT typically a long-term solution to your back and extremity issues and should be reserved as your last resort after more conservative measures have been exhausted. Something as simple and affordable as orthotics may be the answer. Unlike traditional orthotics, our custom foot orthotic improves both your foot and body posture. Did you know foot orthotics might actually reduce an established deformity or condition with regular use?

By reinforcing your arches via foot orthotics you can also improve the mechanics of your gait cycle. Each pair of orthotics is custom molded for each patient’s individual foot posture. They are not cheaply manufactured or pre-made.
These are quality custom orthotics, not a one size fits all insert with a short shelf life. Utilizing a quality orthotic can help with a sports performance and a variety of conditions including but not limited to:

• Foot/ankle pain
• Knee/hip pain
• Low back pain
• Plantar Fasciitis
• Metatarsalgia
• Bunions
• Morton’s Neuroma
• Degenerative Joint Disease/Bone Spurs
• IT Band Syndrome
• Shin Splints
• Muscle dysfunctions/Imbalances
